so, i have been debating whether to use a gloss finish on this mid century modern dresser that i picked up the other day for only $20!! {i'm planning on painting it white}
so here it is:
what do you think...semi-gloss, high gloss or classic satin?
your input will help out a lot, thanks!
I think it will look amazing in high gloss!
ReplyDeleteI am totally doing this on my desk...from black to high gloss white :)
ReplyDeleteI love the look of the high gloss!
ReplyDeletehigh gloss please!
ReplyDeleteFor $20 you can't go wrong with any of the choices. High gloss is in right now, you could go with that and repaint later if you decide you need a change. White paint would be easy to paint over too if you ever want a splash of color.
ReplyDeleteHigh GLOSS it would look amazing because it is a very pretty dresser. Like Karen@StrictlySimpleStyle said it will be easier to paint it later, to change the look.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, I am jealous of the $20 dresser! And if it were mine, I would paint it high gloss. I have found the Krylon paint in a can is glossier than the spray paint version. And for some reason if you do apply the primer, it is not as glossy. So I would sand then paint. Hope you post after pics. Thanks so much for coming by my blog and commenting. Excited to be a follower at your lovely blog!
ReplyDeletei like high gloss- but you know who you should really be asking: beth at hello splendor! she is the best at refinishing furniture. {she's my go-to-gal for anything home related...}
ReplyDeleteyou are so right about the high gloss/lacquer look. I love it! I am lusting over a Jonathan Adler desk that is white lacquer. I think go for the gloss finish especially if it ends up looking like picture #2 or 3.

alright, alright, high gloss it is! thanks for all of the input, i can't believe it's 100% unanimous.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous find Alison..cant wait to see it finished xo
ReplyDeleteGlossssssy!
ReplyDeletePretty what a great find! I would go semi gloss or glossy either way will look good - white is always a good choice, but it has such pretty lines I would be tempted to paint it a color
ReplyDeleteI never find cool pieces like that!
