glammed out at the oscars no, 2

A few more that I can't forget to mention:

Halle Berry in Marchesa
now this is the Ms. Berry we know and love, she looks delightful!

Natalie Portman in Rodarte
seems like everyone got their act together for the night
we knew she could do it!

Helen Mirren in Vivienne Westwood
she is my idol, i only hope to look as gorgeous as she does when i get older
i don't think i've ever seen her dress bad for an event

Hilary Swank in Gucci
sometimes feathers can be too young, not this time.
very classy and elegant-love!

Camilla Alves and Mathew McConauhey
Camilla really brought it and somehow managed to make Mathew look-eh...

there were so many gorgeous dresses i don't know if i can pick a favorite now
but if you twisted my arm, it goes to either halle or mila

who's your favorite?

glammed out at the oscars

I'm highlighting nothing but the gorgeous and glamorous at the 2011 Academy Awards.
My pick for best dressed: Mila Kunis

Mila Kunis in Ellie Saab

Mandy Moore in Monique Lhuillier
{looked better on t.v}

Anne Hathaway in Valentino

Jennifer Hudson in Versace

Scarlett Johansson in Dolce & Gabbana

Thanks to Just Jared, I was able to get all of these images!  I also liked Giulianna Rancic and Kelly Osbourne from E!- couldn't get an image of either of them.

not PINK

i like the idea of not using the standard pink or purple for a little girl's room.
here are a couple super cute and still 'girly' rooms without using pink as the main color.

love the pop of b&w

the use of bright white as a background really balance the bright colors

i am in LOVE with this room
the headboards, dual chandeliers and the bedskirts!

what i love about this room is the neutral pallette with touches of
rich jewel toned accessories. it's soothing to the eye without being the least bit boring or predictable.

these are some of my color inspirations for the nursery.  i kow, such a change from my first set of inspiration photos, but i think this is more up my alley, especially the last two rooms.
what do you think?  or are you a pink kinda girl?

current project

we were at ikea this past weekend looking for a bed for jaxon.
we decided on this one minus the two extra panels for the headboard
which make this bed's headboard super duper high.
i like the look, just not the extra $300 to make it happen.
not too bad for a three year old, right?

i'll show you his room when we're finished.
we still have to paint and get some things hung up.

homegoods brought it!

sometimes homegoods can be a hit or miss.  recently-a home run!

this would have been mine if it was a king
wingback nailhead trimmed headboard:  what's not to love?

love this side table and for only $50

you know i've been looking for a mirror for my living room to prop up against the wall.
this would have been perfect for $99 if i haven't been
spending so much lately-restraint is a good skill my friends
very stylish storage boxes.  when i go shopping and see all these
beautiful things, it doesn't take much persuasion for me to make myself believe i need it all.
who doesn't need a cute zig zag patterned bin?

 capiz vase anyone...

 and some more white beauties

modern dose for your thursday

some days i like old historic homes
and other days-modern

sleek and clean, how a kitchen should be

what a great feeling for a kitchen, it's like your outdoors with all the beautiful windows
LOVE this staircase!

even if it may be too modern to live in for everyday life-it's always fun to look at, no?

grammys: the best and not so much

here are some pictures i was able to gather from the 53rd Grammys:
some good and mostly bad
check it out-

not so much:  loved the hair,
but the dress reminded me of a bunch of little plastic leis

rhinanna

one of the best:  loved this pattern and cut on her, fabulous!
julianne hough

not so much:  not appropriate for the grammys and just a little 'off'

jordan sparks

not so much:  she could have done soooo much better and those shoes kill it for me
kim kardashian

not so much:  love the make up and hair pulled back
but the dress is too much everywhere.
the length is good but the top is just too ruffley and full for her petite self.

eva longoria

so, all in all, it wasn't a very fashion successful red carpet.  i guess julianne wins my vote for best dressed!
i did love the first performance-
which was a tribute to aretha franklin.
those ladies really sang their hearts out!

happy valentine's day!

some news!

so...i've been keeping something from you,
my lovely readers and blog friends--
i'm pregnant!  and it's a girl!!

the task at hand, and what has been on my mind lately:
the nursery design.  i still have about 4 1/2 months but it doesn't hurt to get some ideas, right?

here's inspiration 1
love the gold pouf and modern accents mixed with vintage finds

***
inspiration 2
what a clean, fresh color palette.
calming grey walls with hits of pink and tangerine

inspiration 3
loving the framed fabric above the crib
and the delicate pom pom trimmed sheers

do any of you have any great sites that you go to for inspiration when designing a baby's room?
let me know please, pretty please!

p.s. due to my initial nausea and remaining tiredness {all of the time} my posts have been sparse-sorry.
hopefully i'll get back on track and get re-inspired again.  i just don't seem to have the energy lately with my son, work and my new body!

the lenox: boston

so as i said before, i stayed in the lenox while in boston for work
it was a really nice hotel that had great service
and was very stylish at the same time.
the style is classic, regency.
however, when i stepped into the lobby restroom
i couldn't help but notice that they threw in a zen vibe with the classic look
i am loving this back splash tile.

three other small added touches that i appreciated:
1- the old school phone on each floor, i've been thinking about getting one for my house
2-  complimentary snacks available for all guests
along with delicious coffee in the morning, cookies in the afternoon and hot cocoa in the evening
just like your visiting grandma's house :)

3- and the black painted doors with gold trim.

all in all, it was a good trip, considering the circumstances
but i was so glad to be on the way home on thursday evening

and just a quick update:
remember the weeping pussy willow i purchased
from trader joes?  check out the progress and the beautiful blooms forming

it is supposed to bloom pink flowers in the spring.  how pretty!
